Lasting Lingo puts you in control of how you learn. Decide how many words are in play, how fast they're spoken and how long you get to recall each one. Your loop grows as you're ready and lets go of what you've mastered. Press play and learn hands-free in the car or on a walk, or tap through at your own speed. How it works

Your paceChoose a 1 to 5 second pause between words and five speeds, from very slow to very fast. Hear each one twice if you like.

Your loadStack sets as you're ready: add the next set or drop the oldest, so the loop is as big or as small as suits you today.

It adapts as you learnTap + to drill a word that won't stick, and − to retire one you've mastered. Your loop changes as you do.

Hands-free or hands-onLoop it while you drive, tap through card by card, or test yourself and send the misses back to practice.

Words, then phrases, then sentencesPhrases and sentences use only words you've already learned, so every step builds on the last.

Tones you can seeEvery syllable shows its tone, and polite forms change for a man or a woman (ครับ / ค่ะ).

The free preview runs in your phone's web browser, with no download and no account. It works best in Chrome on Android or Safari on iPhone. Press play and your first words start straight away. Then make it yours: change the pace, add sets, and drill what won't stick.

If something looks or sounds wrong, tap “Report a problem with this word” on that card. Your email app opens with the details filled in, ready to send. For anything else, just email us.

Help and support

There's no sound, or the Thai sounds like an English voice

Lasting Lingo uses your phone's built-in voices. If your phone has no Thai voice, add one:

Android: Settings → Accessibility → Text-to-speech → Google (preferred engine) → Install voice data → Thai.
iPhone: Settings → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices → Thai.

Also check that your phone isn't on silent and the media volume is turned up.

The audio stops when my screen turns off

In the preview, keep Settings → Keep screen on while looping switched on. The phone app is being built to keep playing with the screen locked.

Where is my progress saved?

Only on your phone: your settings, the sets you've switched on, My Practice and Known words. There's no account and nothing is stored on our side. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser's data for the preview, removes it.

How do I start again from the beginning?

In Topics, tap Reset twice. You'll be back on the first five words with every setting in the middle. Your My Practice and Known words lists are kept.

I found a mistake in the Thai or the English

Thank you! Tap “Report a problem with this word” on the card, or email us. Every report is checked, and fixes go into the next update.

Purchases and refunds

When the app launches in the stores, any purchases will be handled by Apple or Google. Refunds are requested through them: Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com, and Google through your order history in the Play Store. If you have trouble, email us and we'll help.

Who we are

Lasting Lingo (the app, the free preview and this website) is run by Mark Green, trading as Lasting Lingo, in the United Kingdom. Mark is the data controller for the personal information described here. Contact: support@lastinglingo.com.

The short version

You don't need an account, and we don't ask for your name or email to use the app.
There are no ads, no analytics and no tracking, and we never sell or share your information.
Your learning progress stays on your device.
We only receive information when you choose to send us a problem report or an email.

Information that stays on your device

Your settings (such as the pause length, speed, languages and whether you speak as a man or a woman), the sets you've switched on, and your My Practice and Known words lists are saved in your device's own storage. We can't see them. Deleting the app, or clearing your browser's data for the preview, removes them.

Information you choose to send us

Problem reports. When you tap “Report a problem with this word”, the report contains the word or sentence on screen, the problem you picked, any note you type, the language direction, whether you speak as a man or a woman, the app version and the time. In the preview, the report opens in your email app, so we also receive your email address and anything you add to the message.
Emails. If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write.

We use this only to correct the course content and to reply to you. Our lawful basis under UK data-protection law is our legitimate interest in keeping the content accurate and answering your messages. We keep reports and emails only as long as we need them to deal with them, and delete them within 12 months. Please don't include sensitive personal information in your notes.

Speech

Words are read aloud by your device's built-in text-to-speech voices. The text being spoken is handled by your device's speech service (for example Google or Apple) under their own privacy terms. Lasting Lingo doesn't use your microphone and doesn't record any audio.

Purchases

When paid content becomes available, in-app purchases will be handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see your payment details. We only receive confirmation of what has been unlocked.

This website and the free preview

Our web host keeps standard server logs, such as IP address, browser type and the pages requested, for a short time for security and reliability. The pages load their typefaces from Google Fonts, so Google receives your device's IP address when a page loads (see Google's privacy policy). The website sets no cookies.

Sharing

We don't sell, rent or share your information. Our email and hosting providers process it on our behalf. Some of them may store data outside the UK, with the safeguards required by UK law.

Children

Lasting Lingo is suitable for all ages and doesn't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you're a parent and believe your child has emailed us, contact us and we'll delete the message.

Security

The website and preview are served over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Reports and emails are kept in password-protected accounts.

Your rights

You can ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Email support@lastinglingo.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
